Nassau District Schools, elementary through high school, are fully accredited by AdvancEd, an organization composed of the unification of the North Central Association Commission of Accreditation and School Improvement, The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement and the National Study of School Evaluation. Nassau County School District was one of the first three school districts in Florida to achieve this recognition. The accreditation means not only that the Nassau School District has met prescribed standards, but that the administration, faculty, parents, students and community are committed to ongoing self-study and improvement.- The district’s students consistently perform at or above the state average on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT), which measures student performance in communications and mathematics and is a requirement for graduation. The Nassau County School District has been rated as an “A” district by the Florida Department of Education every year for the past 8 years, since the inception of district grading – one of only 12 districts in the state to attain this distinction.
- Nassau County has had “Top 5″ finalists in the Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year program four times within the past 6 years, including a Florida Teacher of the Year for 2009.
- The district employee’s level of continuing education and advanced degrees is also indicative of a commitment to ongoing improvement. The district values small schools and the effective use of facilities as growth occurs.
